Environment pay units

RL environment price: per task, per hour or per contract

Updated

No page on the board states a price for one whole environment. The figures it holds come per task, per hour, as an annual salary or as a whole contract, and a figure in one unit cannot be set beside a figure in another.

Per task

Careerflow's contributor posting states a per-task figure: 50 USD a task, paid once the task is approved in review.

Per environment

No page on the board names a figure for one environment. Prime Intellect's launch post points builders to its own list of open and in-progress bounties, and speaks of environments that have no bounty figure listed yet, so some on that list may carry one; the list is not among the pages the board holds, and we did not read it. For an environment with no figure listed, the post tells builders to ask.

A whole contract

Prolific's guide, a report on the labs that buy, says that in 2025 Anthropic planned to spend over 1 billion USD on reinforcement learning environments over the next year, and that OpenAI signed several seven-figure environment contracts in the same window. Neither figure says what one environment costs.

Per hour, or a salary

One platform's two postings listed hourly rates that varied by role, and both had closed to applications when read; one builder posts an annual salary band for engineers. Read the unit before comparing any two figures.
